Should Small Business Owners Buy Inkjet Or Laser Business Printers?

Regardless of how digital your office is, it is still going to be hard to avoid printing hard copies every once in a while. If you want to decide what kind of printer to get for your business, you might have to choose between an inkjet or laser printer. A few years back, laser printers were all the hype because they were much more efficient than the old inkjet printers. However, with advancements in technology, inkjet printers are improving and can compete with laser printers in this day and age. Read on to find out information about the difference between these two types of business printers

Cost Factor

One of the most important factors to consider for every business investment is cost. As such, you should definitely choose a printer that is affordable and yet suitable for the needs of your business. Choosing a cheap printer that is less reliable might end up forcing you to replace it regularly and spend even more money in the long run. You should also consider whether a black-and-white printer is sufficient for your business.

Cheap inkjet printers are notorious for being inefficient because it costs much more to print per page as compared to other printers. This is made worse by the fact that they expand ink and toner cartridges at a much faster rate as well. Therefore, many businesses opt for higher-end inkjet printers because they are much more economical and require less ink and power to run. However, if you will be using your printer regularly, laser printers are much more cost-effective in the long run. It costs less to print per page and they typically can last longer than inkjet printers.

Quality

If you are more concerned about the quality of your prints as compared to the quantity, it can be hard to compare. Laser printers are known to provide quality by printing clear texts very quickly and at a cheaper price as compared to inkjet printers, which might not be suitable for printing small texts. Of course, high-end inkjet models can compete with the sharpness of laser printing, but quantity would still be a problem. When it comes to printing high-quality images, inkjet printers might be more suitable because they can produce a more detailed and natural printout on different paper types.

Business Printer Performance

On the other hand, if you are looking for a printer that can help you to print the largest quantity in the shortest amount of time, you should most definitely purchase a laser printer. However, if you are concerned about the quality of your printouts and only need to print occasionally, then inkjets are the more practical option. Bear in mind however, that inkjet printers are starting to become more advanced. In fact, there are some models that can print up to 75 pages every minute. This is not to say that higher-end laser printers are much faster, with speeds of more than 100 pages per minute (ppm) and up to 20,000 pages per month.

The bottom line is that you need to weigh all these factors and figure out what kind of business printer is best suited for your organization in terms of usage and needs.
