If you own a Kyocera TASKalfa MFP, you may be wondering how you can use it to print banners. We give you a step-by-step guide in this article.

Understanding Banner Printing
As opposed to A4 printing, banner printing makes use of a custom media size that is the same width as an A4 page but much longer. You must get a printer that supports banner printing in order to do so. Also known as wide-format or large-format printing, banners can be printed on different types and sizes of paper. It is not recommended to print banners on regular paper as these are flimsy and do not offer durability. The most common materials used for printing banners include canvas, vinyl and coated papers with matte or glossy finishing.
Size of Banners
Although there is no fixed size for banners, they tend to start from around 12 inches and can reach up to a few feet in height and width. Smaller sizes are possible, but these would usually be classified as posters instead of banners and are printed on regular paper. Banners are typically one-sided as they are meant to be hung against a surface, but duplex printing of banners is possible when there is traffic coming in from both sides. However, double-sided banners tend to be much more complicated and therefore costlier to print.
Where Can Banners be Hung?
Banners can be hung both indoors and outdoors. Below are some common places where banners are hung:
- From a ceiling or against a wall
- Against the exterior wall of a building
- Against lampposts
- … and many more
Depending on whether your banner will be hung indoors or outdoors, you may opt for a different material. Banners meant for indoor display do not have to endure the elements, hence they tend to be printed on thinner and less durable material.
